Practical steps to apply during the database setup and piloting phase:
  • Download HRS from www.indepth- network.org
  • Purchase Visual Fox Pro
  • Run HRS
  • Add fields incrementally to database tables and the database entry screen
  • Increase iteratively
  • Start with baseline data (core demographic variables only)
  • Do consistency checks
  • Add new events and episodes
  • Add fields that don't need new tables. Test. Add consistency.
  • Add new events and episodes
  • Add fields that need new tables (e.g. Immunization)
  • Setup Computing System (ID Adjustments, etc)
