Household, membership and residency
A household is typically a unit to which individual members belong, often defined as social subunits of the residential unit that may be a compound. The definition of household may vary from one DSS to another.  In Africa and in Asia, a household is often defined as that group which eats from the same pot.  It might also be worth checking the local national census definition of household in order to be consistent.
Membership (member) defines the state of belonging to a social group irrespective of physical presence.
Residency (resident) defines the state of being physically present in a given residential unit for a defined threshold of time. 
Residential Units are the places where individuals live.  They are defined in physical and geographic terms.
