Staff who conduct verbal autopsy will need to know local illness terminology in the local language(s). In many areas this terminology will have been established by social scientists or anthropologists and will be available in the published literature. If not, try to encourage a local study in your DSS area that can be used to assist interpretation of verbal autopsy.
