Navigating the Resource Kit
The INDEPTH Resource Kit for Demographic Surveillance Systems is a web-enabled resource kit designed with a heirarchical graphical map of the web site (or CD-ROM) contents which allows the user to navigate easily through the material, resources and downloads. At the top right of the home page you can choose from four ways to move around in the Resource Kit: Home, Table of Contents, Overview Map or <Previous Next>.
1)  In the default Home mode, just click on the headings under the Home applet on the left of the screen to expand the menu of contents and jump into any area of interest.
or 2)  In the Table of Contents mode you will find a traditional tree structure of the contents.
or 3)  In the Overview Map mode you will find a graphical "mind map" of the contents which is also hyper linked to allow you to jump into the content at any point. The main "Sections" are numbered 1 through 6, but do not need to be visited in that order.
or 4) You can step through the Kit page by page, forwards or backwards page by pressing the <Previous  Next> buttons in the upper right window.
For best navigation, your web browser should be updated with the latest Java plug ins. If the table of contents does not appear in the left of the screen, you need to update the free Java Runtime Environment of your browser with this download.  To open some files in the resource kit you will need Microsoft Excel (or Open Office Calc) Spreadsheet or Adobe Acrobat Reader.  Download the free Acrobat Reader here if necessary.  Download the free Open Office here if necessary.
The material in this Resource kit is organized in over 300 screen size topics with links to over 100 detailed resource documents.  These are arranged in as logical an order as possible with extensive hyper linked cross-connections between related topics.
