Dr. Charity Binka

Charity Binka - Since 2006, Dr. Charity Binka has devoted her time to training African journalists to report effectively on malaria. Her passion in the field led to the creation of the African Media and Malaria Research Network (AMMREN), of which she is the Executive Secretary. The Network brings together journalists from ten (10) African countries. Charity is currently a Steering Committee member of the Roll Back Malaria Strategic Communications Partner Committee. Charity is also the Executive Director of an Accra based NGO, Women, Media and Change (WOMEC). WOMEC is committed to giving women public voice and visibility through the effective use of the media. She serves on several local and international boards, including to the African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), Nairobi, Kenya as the West Africa Representative. She holds a PhD in Population and Health obtained from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. She also has an MPhil in Public Administration (MPA) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Master of Arts degree in Gender and Development from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, Brighton, United Kingdom, and a Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies from the University of Ghana.
