1) INDEPTH Prize for Extraordinary Research in Population and Health The INDEPTH Prize for Extraordinary Research in Population and Health at INDEPTH Sites was established to stimulate researchers at INDEPTH member centres to undertake innovative work leading to extraordinary results that have the potential to impact policy and practice. An announcement for new nominations for the prize is out and posted online on this website. 2) New call for proposals for cross-site small grants Our small grants programme aims to foster research collaboration and research training at INDEPTH member centres. The grant provides $25,000 per grant to at least three INDEPTH members participating in a cross-site activity. INDEPTH has received further support from Sida/GLOBFORSK to expand the programme. We are therefore pleased to announce another round of grants. For further details regarding these grants click here. 3) Bridging Communication Barriers and Fostering Cross-Site Exchange at INDEPTH Sites Overcoming the language barrier and sharpening the scientific skills of young researchers from non-English-speaking countries will contribute to strengthening research capacity, and to increasing contributions to future INDEPTH activities. INDEPTH has launched this new initiative to strengthen the communication skills in English of young scientists from non-English-speaking countries. It is a 1-2 month cross-site attachment programme that will initially support 2 young scientists annually. See reports on previous visits support here: http://www.indepth-network.org/events/SiteExAndSupport.htm 5) New INDEPTH Re-Entry Grant from Wits University South Africa - Applications deadline July 31 every year The INDEPTH Network has recently launched a new programme for INDEPTH-funded graduates from Wits University in South Africa who pursued the MSc. in population-based field epidemiology. Applications are received until July 31 every year and decisions are taken on August 15. The number of grants to be awarded each year depends on the available funding. Find more details here:http://www.indepth-network.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1032&Itemid=1 6) INDEPTH Fellows to be posted at member centres - Application deadline July 31 every year Depending on availability of funds, INDEPTH awards fellowships especially to nationals of countries where our member HDSSs are located to work full time at the centres as INDEPTH fellows for an initial period of one year. This can be extended depending on availability of resources and need. INDEPTH members submit a simple application to the Secretariat justifying the need for the fellows and stating a strategy to to absorb the fellows into their regular staff after the fellowship periods.
